Our Manifesto...

The Darke Horse Farm is a vintage inspired training and riding academy set among the pastoral rolling fields of Ray County, Missouri.

We first saw the property that is now The Darke Horse Farm in July 2018. It was in need of a lot TLC after having gone through more than a decade of neglect and deferred maintenance. The bones were solid and the place felt good. It felt right. We saw beyond the buildings in disrepair, the sagging fencing, and the overgrown landscape to what it could be and what it is growing into today.

Our goal is to help riders and their equine partners develop harmonious and trusting relationships and to assist in the rehabilitation of performance horses from stress and/or injury. Professionals to new riders and all disciplines welcome.

We offer custom full board with training and/or lesson packages and welcome haul-in lessons. In addition to our board, training, and lesson programs, we also offer unique educational opportunities, clinics with a nationally recognized FEI trainer, and workshops at affordable costs. Here we also hand blend our specialty botanical formulas for horse and rider.

The Dark Horse Farm Manifesto

We believe being of service is our highest calling. This farm is a place of restoration; itself being restored and those (human & equine) who find their way here finding a restoration of self, purpose, peace, faith, health, joy, whatever is in need of restoration in their lives. We believe community and friendship are extensions of family and that there is room at the table (and in the barn) for everyone. We believe in never ending, ever growing stories and that the stories of our journeys with horses are just such stories; There is love and loss. There is excitement and adversity. There is always another chapter, another adventure, another lesson. The characters are always evolving and learning. We believe in doing a good work and supporting others in their pursuits. Failure, judgement, and disappointment do not exist at The Darke Horse Farm. We believe every effort is ripe with discovery. We believe in being good stewards of the land and animals entrusted to our care. We believe we are merely borrowing this Earth from future generations and it is our responsibility to ensure they receive Her with clean water, clear skies, healthy soils, and abundant wildlife.
